I've been continuing to build out my Everyday Studies series, using it as a place to explore new subjects, color combinations, and ways of simplifying forms. For this piece, I was drawn to the kingfisher's incredible color palette and sharp, distinctive silhouette.
Rather than focusing on realism, I wanted to capture the energy and personality of the bird through bold shapes, loose marks, and layered color. Pieces like this are an opportunity to stay curious, experiment, and keep pushing my visual language forward one study at a time.
