When I was in my mid-twenties, I remember sitting around on a Saturday afternoon, mindlessly flipping through channels trying to find something to watch. Anthony Bourdain came on and my first thought was, "Who is this douchebag?"

I couldn't have been more wrong. By the third episode, I got it.

He wasn't just making shows about food. He was teaching people how to be curious. He opened my eyes to a world I didn't even know existed. Not just through food, but through people, art, travel, connection, and self-awareness. Looking back, he became a mirror for a lot of the values I try to carry into my own life and work.

That's what I wanted this portrait to capture.

Rather than simply creating a likeness, I filled it with hidden references and symbolic details that tell more of his story. My hope is that, just like Bourdain's work, this piece rewards curiosity and reveals something new every time you come back to it.
